Barn Guesthouse - Viscri, Romania

plan vertical proiect arhitectura pensiune viscri

"The studied land is located in the central area of Viscri village. The local architecture in Viscri is specific to the old Saxon villages. All houses are built adjacent to the street, with a front line closed by gates and walls. The annexes are aligned on one side of the plot.

The original annex was in a very advanced state of decay. The new construction was placed on the site of the former annex. The newly built volume is designed to be oriented with the ridge parallel to the long side of the plot and is covered with reclaimed scale-type ceramic tiles. The finishes have a rural character and integrate into the architecture of the area. Wooden cladding and stone elements were used. The exterior carpentry is also made of wood.

The main goal was to preserve the character of the area and the local specificity, through a sensitive integration. The village of Viscri is part of the UNESCO World Heritage." - Plan Vertical
